Should Auld Acquaintance…

As the minutes and hours tick away the last gasps of 2015, what better time to look back at perhaps the rarest of holiday-themed comic-book covers, the New Year’s cover! What have we got?

e1d6f15f984c942d2c31e5aa4fc46816You don’t see a lot of “Baby New Year” any more, come to think of it…

Sup_333_DTYou know, I actually had this issue as a kid, and it scared the hell out of me, with the Daily Planet staff taking the Concorde across country so as to celebrate New Year’s across all the time zones, only for Bizarro to show up and decide that since Superman had recently saved his friends, to be truly opposite Bizarro had to kill Superman’s friends. Or something like that. I just remember Superman saving the day by making dummies of the corpses of Lois Lane and Lana Lang, and putting them in a lead box on the top of the plane for Bizarro to see. Creepy.

Nothing’s more fun than graffiti.

New Years 1I’ll come right out and say it: Huey, Dewey and Louie look weird without shirts.

Finally, a more modern example, but since this is from a series all about holidays, it feels like a bit of a cheat.

I just wish I knew what year this one was from…
